How can there be One Malaysia when the Malays in terms of wealth, are actually second class citizens in the country?
By By Mat Goneng
Mr. John Malott’s essay on the “The Price of Malaysia’s Racism” which appeared in the Wall Street Journal of 8th February 2011 lacks depth.
Reading his article one would conclude that the Malay race is the richest racial group in Malaysia. Far from it, on the contrary, the average income of the Malays at RM3,500 is the lowest. The Indians average income is RM4,500 and the Chinese RM6,200.
But that is not the full story. Of the thousands of SMEs in the country, the Malays own less than 5% of the total and if one looks at the export of manufactured goods (rubber, wood, plastic based, etc) which are strongly supported by the Malaysian government through its agencies, MATRADE and MIDA, the biggest beneficiary are the Chinese and Indian SMEs with more than 95% of the total export.
When the “actual profits” from manufacturing are considered the actual average income of the non-Malays could be three or four times higher than that of the Malays.
It’s true that 90% of the civil service, police and military staff are Malays but these are all low paying jobs. What is troubling is that when Malaysia reaches a developed nation status with a targeted per capita income of RM49,500, the largest number of Malaysians whose income will be below the targeted average will be the Malays. How can there be One Malaysia when the Malays in terms of wealth, are actually second class citizens in the country?
What is a tragedy for the Malays is that neither the present government nor the opposition has clear, effective policy implementations to address the big issues confronting the Malays. Basically, the Malays are very weak and despite their poor economic status, have been accommodating the request of the non-Malays as though they (the Malays) have achieved huge successes in Malaysia.
As a race the Malays are just docile and pathetic. Despite being the poorest, it’s not the Malays but the Indians who went to the streets to protest their so-called disadvantaged position. At the rate the country progresses, when Malaysia reaches a developed nation status, the Malays will remain the poorest in the country and lulled by their false symbols of supremacy in the Prime Minister, King, Sultans, administrators, soldiers and policemen being Malays.
Mr. Malott has to really rewrite the superficiality of his thoughts. Malaysia is a complex country to understand and govern and all considered has actually done quite well.

It is true that Malays are poorest. However, UMNO and cronies control banking and finance, transport, oil and gas, plantations, communications, power generation, etc and starting to control retail, insurance, construction and development, etc. 53 years of UMNO rule has resulted in the biggest rich poor divide among the Malays compared to other races. ..

Other than gorenging hatred, what have you been doing all these years?
Did you start any SME and provide employment, contribute to the economy and pay taxes? Have you????
Your claim that 95% of SME belong to non-malays may not be true anymore as many are closing shop to just emigrate or relocate the operations to other countries and people like you can have all the action to yourselves.
Soon, many people will be jobless and you can blame it all on the non-malays for closing shop!
This country is not conducive to encourage local investment and re-investments(EXPANSION) with dungus like you whose only aim in life is to goreng rubbish about Chinese and Indians who stole all your rights.
Crawl back into your hole and count (if you know how) how many rent seekers have taken the RM52,000,000,000-00 ?? ...

UMNO_BN has 53+ yrs to make things right for poor Malaysians & Mr Mat Goneng how long more do they nid? Don't you think it is time for a new gomen to prove that they can do the job better?! Give UMNO_BN another 100 yrs & they will still fail the poor Malaysians ... ask your conscience. ..

As the many critics of the article have pointed out below, this ghost writer is using statistics to lie and further his propaganda slant!!
In an united Malaysia, all rakyat who are underprivileged and needs the helping hands of the authorities should and must be given that support.
Race shall play no part in such interventions!! ..

Pleaselah Mat Goreng,
Don't play around with statistics. We can't deny that there many poor Malays in the country, as there are also poor Indians, Chinese, Ibans, Kadazans and Orang Aslis. The only difference is that poor Chinese don't go around crying in public. I can vividly remember having to eat bubur with ikan masin for most days of our schooling life.
And you failed to mention the RM888billion that had been spirited out of this country. Maybe you have the records to show that the majority of this enormous out-flow are being done by the past and present Umnoputras for the sole purpose of hiding and safe-keeping. ..

malays are just not productive and creative in terms of making money. If we throw all the malays into the sea, malaysia could possibly become a develop nation. ..

Mat Goneng, you haven't got it all figured out yet, have you? The truth is the nons had worked and tolled for every cent they made and are still doing so. Because of the introduction of the NEP since the 1970s, the Malays were widely pampered with privileges, now so-called rights, so much so most common Malays have only to stretched out their hands to get what they have been getting, but only the crumbs.
And with the change of the medium of instruction, they even became less exposed and competitive. Time had proven that many had become a demanding and parasited lot in society. If the government policies and implementation are not corrected soon, the common Malays, even the nons, are not going to be any better off and will continue to suffer at the hands of the ruling, corrupt and arrogant UMNOputras. They are the real culprits who have stalled the progress of the common Malays as well as the nons by squandering the Nation's wealth big time and just leaving the aforesaid crumbs to some. Then, how on earth can the official figures on ownership ever tally with what is actually happening on the ground? Not in a million years! The figures are a big lie intentionally created by UMNOputras and their slavedogs from time to time to further enhance their political might with the help and support of the gullible common Malays.
The words and actions of the UMNOputras are always contradictory and full of deceit!. UMNO may not be the destroyer of the Malays but they are sure the ones who had held back the progress of the common Malays so they may continue to control them. Otherwise how could one explain why the common Malays are still making so much noises, even blaming and threatening the nons at times, after 40 years of the so-called affirmative programs?
Think, Mat, ask UMNO for the appropriate answers and if they repent and do not continue to lie, you should find all your problems and answers from them. They are the source of the Malay and Malaysian woes in this country. Don't blame the nons who are just struggling for survival in their own country largely without any help from any quarters. Blame the real culprit, UMNO, and vote them out! ...

Hello Mat Goreng,
First of all, I will not challenge whatever stats you have conjured up in your essay. I think most of us know that stats are just that - stats - which are easily manipulated and presented in as many ways as there are statisticians.
Secondly, we do not have access to any truly independent studies of the distribution of wealth in the country. Your friends in UMNO had already made sure of that, otherwise we would have gorenged them in the last decade, why wait until now.
Thirdly, your concluding phrase is erroneous - it should be - "despite the UMNO government, the country has actually done quite well" and not as you said - "all things considered".
Mat Goreng, you are either blind or completely stupid. Lets for a minute consider that your stats about average income is accurate - you failed, yes you fcuking failed to compute or impute the cost of living for the NON-Malays. Despite having a higher average income as per your stats, the NONs have to pay for higher housing costs (the Malays enjoy discounts), higher income tax due to higher bracket, higher costs of education because a NON-Malay kid with a string of As is not guaranteed a place in a local university, NONs do not get special treatment when it comes to pelabur for shares, etc etc.
On the hand, the Malays get almost everything they want almost without having to pay for some of those things. New IPOs also Malays get preference. Even a retard gets to study engineering in a local university. Beli rumah also get discount even if you are already a jutawan. Aiya! I don't want to write anymore about the excesses - all paid for by NON Malays' taxes.
So, Mat Goreng, what the fcuk are you talking about?
Go fcuk your UMNO for the ills suffered by the Malays, don't whine and later dine with the sickos from UMNOs.
And bradder Goreng, we are talking about saving the fcuking country and not just saving the Malays or Indians or the Cinakuis. Faham tak?
So, don't take us for fools, yeah? In fact its fcukers like you who confuse the rural folks - whether Malay or Indian or Cinakuis about the state of affairs in our country and in the process they continue to vote in the fcuking UMNO and their consorts.
So, yes, Mat Goreng is right on ONLY one point and that is: How could there be 1 Malaysia? (when you have people like Mat Goreng writing rubbish). ..

Malaysian government through its agencies, MATRADE and MIDA, the biggest beneficiary are the Chinese and Indian SMEs with more than 95% of the total export.
========
Mat Goneng, what the hell is happening with 52 billion given to the Malays and with all the special help in the form of grants , special loans etc.
What it show here is that the Chinese, Indians and others are working hard and contributing to the country's coffer in the form of taxes and job creation. These are the real patriots.
Why are you blaming the non Malays instead of looking inwards and asking yourself why with all the special help, the Malays are still not making the expected progress?. The straight forward answer is that when one can "beg" and survive there is no incentive to really work. Why sweat when all one need is to shout like Ibrahing Eli and be able to get a bag full of gold just by citing Ketuanan shit ?. ..

It is 'Mat Goneng' who has "superficiality" of thought. This is really not a Malay versus non-Malay issue. The issue is one of gross corruption whereby UMNO, in the guise of the Malaysian government, proclaims Malay supremacy to induce people like Mat Goneng to continue to vote for them in a racist manner, while at the same time siphoning away BILLIONS of ringgit to themselves and their cronies, money which could have been used to improve the lot of all the Malays in the country. Do you really believe that these BILLIONS will be reflected in the figures quoted as average income of the races as supplied by the UMNO government? Come on, Mat, don't kid yourself. You have voted for a party that has stolen BILLIONS from your race, and yet you continue to vote for them... ..

Blame it on the misguided malays who stubbornly refused to wake up to their senses that they are being misled to believe that the government owes them a living!!!
