GEORGE TOWN: DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang turns 70 today, but retirement is not on his mind despite being in politics for more than 40 years.
Lim, who is Ipoh Timur MP, said his birthday wish was for Malaysia to have a more mature democracy.
“A mature democracy will have a two-party system and a better democratic space for everyone,” he told reporters during a birthday celebration here last night.
Lim said a change of government would not result in chaos and this was a normal process in a democratic country.
Among the 600 guests present were Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, DAP chairman Karpal Singh, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, party members, veteran politicians, family members and friends.
