Watching the television, listening to the radio, reading the newspaper, even standing around the water cooler can be a hazardous activity these days. All we hear about is doom and gloom. We are told that this is the worst economy since the great depression; that things probably won't get any better for a long time. They tell us that everyone is devastated and discouraged by the state of the economy and the financial situation that we are facing.
You might accuse me of being crazy. but I don't feel that way at all. I see the time that we are living in as the best time to be alive. Fortunes are made. Hopes and dreams are achieved in times like these. Because people are forced to get out of their comfort zones and 'kick above their heads.' For example if someone is laid or otherwise loses a job, they receive a kick in the pants that jolts them into the reality that they need to do something else in order to survive and support their families. I am not talking about those people with a welfare mentality, they'd be looking to the government for a handout anyway. I am talking about the hard working person. The hard times just brings out the creativity, and the entrepreneurial spirit that makes the cream rise to the top. These are exciting times because they force us to look for opportunities that we might miss if things were rosy.
The God that made us, and created the universe is totally in charge. Never for one moment are circumstances out of His control. The only reason that He place us here is to help us prepare for the next life. And the monetary and financial systems are just mediums to help us get through this life. The Bible says in one place, "Acquaint now thyself and be at peace. Truly if we really trust in God we can have peace of mind, and not shake nor fear at the tumultuous events which are happening around us. Positive thinking begins with Faith in God. If we change our mindset in this way, we will not be afraid of the storm and we will be recession proof.
